Beyond the Play: What Lies Beneath Power, Pain, and Pleasure in BDSM
Discussion
Length: 90 minutes - 2 hours
In this class, we look beyond what we do in BDSM and explore what draws us to it in the first place. Together, we'll talk about the experiences, desires, emotions, and personal meanings that can exist underneath our kinks, roles, and dynamics. What do we find in giving up control or taking it? What makes pain meaningful, pleasure intense, or certain experiences stay with us long after a scene ends? This isn't about diagnosing ourselves or finding a psychological explanation for every kink. It's a discussion-heavy class centered on curiosity, reflection, and honest conversation about what power, pain, pleasure, surrender, trust, vulnerability, and intensity can mean to each of us.
Bio: Joker (he/him) is a Dominant Leatherman and Sadist who has been actively exploring BDSM since 2005. Through his exploration of the lifestyle, his interests have grown from learning what we do and how we do it to asking a different question: what draws us to it in the first place? His own exploration of Sadism, and what draws him to pain, intensity, control, and the reactions they create, helped spark a broader curiosity about what lies beneath our desires. That curiosity has led him to explore both research and lived experiences around what makes power, pain, pleasure, control, and surrender meaningful to us.
